Activities for Preschoolers – The Best Day Ever

My Dad, Gregory Simms, was a genius at designing great activities for preschoolers. He was a master at dreaming up great things to do for kids. It was a good thing, since there were five of us!

One of my most favorite things was the day he declared National Simms Day. We woke up one morning and my Dad announced that there was no school that day. Surprised, we checked for snow – but he told us the reason we were staying home was that it was National Simms Day. We were the happiest preschoolers alive!

After a dreamy breakfast of ice cream sundaes (really…) my parents spent the day enjoying all kinds of preschool activities with us, including a visit to the park, card games, and of course, a preschool reading lesson – which we loved!

It was a truly super, memorable day that I fondly recall even to this day.

Routine is vitally important for our children. And sometimes it’s worth stopping the routine and reminding your children how much being together means to you.
