Activities for Preschoolers - It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

Be sure to check out the post-holiday sales at stores like Michaels and Target. You can get super activities/kits and art supplies for your kids. I stock up for the next year, but also at times you'll find projects that the store considered "holiday" merchandise that isn't really. For instance, today I found some great finger puppets on sale for 75% off at Pier One. They aren't red and green, or blue and white. They're just super cute and they were nearly free. Keep an eye out for this sort of bargain in the holiday section - if you have your activities for preschoolers filter on, you can get some great stuff!

Activities for Preschoolers – Family Movie Night

With the winter months in full force, there are many weekends where the best activity for preschoolers we can come up with at home is a good ole’ fashioned family movie night. We like to get some yummy popcorn, grab a cozy comforter, and pile onto our couch for some fun. It’s a great way to get a break while keeping our preschool son entertained.

If you’re tired of watching Cars or Finding Nemo for the zillionth time, you might feel tempted to pick a movie that you’ve never seen. But sometimes even rated G moveies have shocking scenes that you wish you could have skipped.

Now there’s a great, free, web site to take out the guesswork when you’re choosing family films. www.kids-in-mind.com rates movies on three scales: sexual content, violence, and profanity. The site also gives shot-by-shot descriptions of every questionable image in the movie. It’s been an indispensable tool to help us share lots of laughs and avoid nightmares on these special nights. And by the way, check out The Sandlot – it’s a super movie!!

Activities for Preschoolers – The Best Day Ever

My Dad, Gregory Simms, was a genius at designing great activities for preschoolers. He was a master at dreaming up great things to do for kids. It was a good thing, since there were five of us!

One of my most favorite things was the day he declared National Simms Day. We woke up one morning and my Dad announced that there was no school that day. Surprised, we checked for snow – but he told us the reason we were staying home was that it was National Simms Day. We were the happiest preschoolers alive!

After a dreamy breakfast of ice cream sundaes (really…) my parents spent the day enjoying all kinds of preschool activities with us, including a visit to the park, card games, and of course, a preschool reading lesson – which we loved!

It was a truly super, memorable day that I fondly recall even to this day.

Routine is vitally important for our children. And sometimes it’s worth stopping the routine and reminding your children how much being together means to you.

Activities for Preschoolers - Words of Wisdom from a Mom of 3

As a mom of three, one of whom is still a preschooler, sometimes I feel like I've seen it all. There were countless times when I wished I had a manual of activities for preschoolers - that is, a guide on how to manage the crazy preschool years. So I thought I would start a resource for those of you out there who have some of the same questions I had. Hope it helps!!
